A small canal runs close to this street. Spanned by bridges, it is one of the many diversions of the River Bonnette that were dug in the Middle Ages to serve as a sewage system and to supply the tanneries. The top floor of tanneries has a clerestory, similar to a soleilho, and is used as a warehouse and drying room.
